The student is introduced to embryologic development, anatomy, physiology and functions of the external, middle and internal ear. Concepts in the diagnosis and treatment of common pathologic conditions of the ear including hearing loss, dizziness, tinnitus, otitis extema, otitis media, chronic ear disease, mastoiditis, cholesteatoma, labyrinthitis, otosclerosis, sudden deafness and congential conditions are addressed. It includes didactic training I facial nerve and 8th cranial nerve function and abnormalities, autoimmune training in facial nerve and 8th cranial nerve function and abnormalities, autoimmune.
