EDUC 358 English Teaching Methods 3.0 Credits

This course is designed to support the development of pre-service teachers in the middle and secondary English/Language Arts classroom. Students will be provided opportunities to integrate and apply theories of learning, curriculum and pedagogy to instruction of English/Language Arts. Students will also be required to make connections between theory and current research to classroom instruction and examine best practices in working with struggling readers and writers in the secondary classroom. Classroom-based experiences are required. This course has a Stage 3 field component. Successful completion of the course and field component is required for recommendation for certification.
